Canoeing Down the Kickapoo

On Friday, July 5th the family drove two hours to Ontario, Wisconsin and rented canoes from Titanic Canoe Outfitters.  On the drive we saw an Amish farmer plowing his field with horses and later saw an Amish young man driving a buggy with a beautiful black horse.

It was a beautiful day...

Sydney starting off in the canoe with Mom.

There are lots of pretty rock formations and indents in the cliffs along the Kickapoo.

Dad with Scottie and Stefan with Samuel.

Sydney started out really shakily and ran into the banks a lot, but at the end she was going a lot smoother.

More pretty rock outcroppings.

Scott and Sydney traded places halfway through the trip.

We canoed for about two hours then were shuttled back to our car by Titanic Canoe Outfitters.  We ate dinner at a Culvers in Reedsburg on the way home.  It was a fun day, and we want to do it again! :D

Sydney's Scary Story

Here is the first of what I hope will be many of Sydney's stories.  She is quite a writer at age seven!  Her style is similar to Erin Hunter's of Warrior fame and this story also has a bit of "Goosebumps" mixed in.

This story is noteworthy because Sydney was the first place winner for grades K-2nd in the Waunakee Public Library's Scary Story Contest.  Click here to read and make sure you keep the lights on!
